Librarians Against Bush - Look For Inspiration?
Nowadays, probably, even a child knows a lot about politics and especially who George Bush is. Numerous TV programs, online forums and just blogs are related to such an outstanding person.
And of course, all the people who are interested in such issues need some place where they will be able to share their points of view concerning the relations between the government and president, the nation and president and the world and the president.
Librarians Against Bush just want to ask the question. Is this activism is true? Can it really influence the decisions of the government? Are these the real aims of such organizations? Just look through the news we get used to listen every evening. War in Iraq, Muslim aggression, Terrorist attacks or ordinary catastrophe of an aircraft. What make our press broadcast such events as "Israel Killed 650 Palestinians in 2006" or "Homosexuals come out in Kenya"?
Of course, Librarians Against Bush doesn't say that we don't need to know all these. It should be said that still people can't decide who is guilty - the government or the president itself. Everyone lays the blame on the other. And it is normal for our days. Normal, that nobody wants to be responsible for something. But still we should learn some positive things in the evening. Some interesting, inspirational or funny stories. No, not those shows and chats, but just the news. The news of the other quality.
The other thing is who should decide what news are interesting for the people and what not. Should it be government, librarians or president? Of course, someone may raise an objection that there are a lot of various channels, sites in the Internet and everyone can choose what he likes. Well, you know, we tried, but still there is the same everywhere. So, is not it time to change something? |
